Aliz Koletas joined WGBY in September of 2013 as the host & producer of Connecting Point, the popular magazine style TV show “that connects you with the people, places and ideas that matter most to western New England.”
She first moved to the area in June 2013 and reported for the ABC affiliate, WGGB, during the summer where she fell in love with the people and places of western New England, including the Springfield area.
Previously she came from the Albany, NY area where she reported for two years on Parentology, an independent TV show where she met many families who inspired her through their courageous stories before she decided to leave and join the local Fox station, WXXA.
While in Albany, she had the distinct privilege of meeting and interviewing Eli Manning and several of his Giants teammates during football camp practice at UAlbany.
She went to school for Broadcast Journalism and graduated from the New School of Radio and Television in Albany, NY and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY after originally going to school for her education degree. It’s not that she didn’t like kids but she wanted to fulfill her own childhood dream of being a reporter.
She also started and then sold a consignment shop in her hometown of Troy, NY which she named after a personal motto of hers: High Maintenance, Low Budget Consignment Shop. She blogged for her local newspaper The Record about all of the crazy twists and turns that this adventure brought her way.
In her spare time, she loves traveling, playing the piano, watching hockey, eating Greek food and spending a lot of time with her big fat Greek family.
Feel free to email her at akoletas@wgby.org with story ideas, news tips, any questions or even just simply welcome her to the western Massachusetts area with suggestions on where and what to check out!
